Palácios Helps St Charles Cruise to 11-3 Win | The St Charles Sheens defeated the San Francisco Bandits, 11-3, at Crown Royal Stadium today. Leading the charge for St Charles was second baseman Miguel Palácios. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. St Charles reliever Luis Valentín picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Alfonso Martínez absorbed the loss. The last-place Bandits have lost 4 straight games.
Had Shawn Gutiérrez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Gutiérrez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Sheens.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Palácios told the St Charles Citizen.
