| Multi-HR Day for Matthews as Panthers Overpower Sheens, 10-1 | The Vista Panthers used an offensive barrage to beat the St Charles Sheens, 10-1, at Crown Royal Stadium. Phil Matthews led the way, going 3-for-4 for Vista. Randy Mailman, the winner, improved to 6-10. He held St Charles to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Vista currently is in third place in the Continental League Western Division at 57-68.
Vista used the timely hitting of Francisco Marino to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put the Panthers on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Panthers manager Tim Fulgham.
