Browns Lose, 7-4, at Edmund Fitzgerald Field | Philadelphia played host to St. Louis at the friendly confines of Edmund Fitzgerald Field.
Philadelphia catcher Valentín Borges made his presence felt in the 7-4 Athletics triumph over the St. Louis Browns. Borges went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. George Nelson got credit for the win, improving to 8-15. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings. Esteban Juárez notched his 19th save in 23 chances.
Santiago Zambrano aided the Philadelphia cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop went 2 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Zambrano told the Philadelphia Gazette.
Today's win puts Philadelphia at 43-79, while St. Louis falls to 66-56.
