| G-Strings Lose, 5-2, at Michigan & Trumbull | A 3-RBI performance from Jimmy Vickers, who is tied for 4th in the CL with a .341 batting average, helped the Greenville 84s beat the Nashville G-Strings, 5-2. Reliever Dave Smith picked up the win. His record improves to 5-0. Bennie Jones took the loss. Júlio Gracía notched his 9th save in 12 chances.
Vickers had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 sinker from Bennie Jones, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the 84s a 3-2 lead. It was the 37th double of the year for Vickers.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Vickers said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
Greenville is now riding a 4-game win streak.
