| Victory Over Hitmen Takes Irvine to 81-38 | The Irvine Gang Green picked up a win at The Ballpark at Irvine, knocking off the Hendersonville Hitmen, 5-1. Starting pitcher Alfredo Montalvo played a key role in the triumph. Montalvo, now 12-5, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. The first-place Gang Green now have a 4-game winning streak.
The Gang Green got a big at-bat from third baseman José Salazar. For the game, Salazar went 1-2 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 115th hit of the season gave Irvine a 2-0 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Salazar said after the game.
