Starting pitcher Jerry Martin was an essential part of his team's success. The win boosts the Tropics to 58-57. The loss puts the Royale with Cheese at 67-48.
The Tropics had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 5-0, Maui, with one out. Kalamazoo, with the bases loaded, was mounting a threat. Caden Keith dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 fastball, he struck out.
