| Sheens Need Extra Frames to Get Past Pikes | St Charles Sheens starter Paul Adams pitched a strong game against the Seattle Pikes at Crown Royal Stadium, leading the Sheens to a 4-3 win. With the win, the Sheens improved to 39-70.
The Sheens got a big at-bat from first baseman Larry Howard. For the game, Howard was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. In the bottom of the tenth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 82nd hit of the season gave St Charles a 4-3 lead.
"We had a chance to win," said Seattle manager Kevin Hickey, "but we didn't get it done."
