| Stars Clip Machine, 4-3 | The Springfield Stars eked out a 4-3 win versus the Chicago Machine at Old Comiskey Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Claudio Martínez, who captured player of the game honors. Luis Cortéz, credited with the save, is now 3 for 7 in save opportunities. Springfield goes to 73-33. The win puts them 12 games up in their division.
Derek Davidson, who is tied for 9th in the CL in bases on balls with 51, aided the Springfield cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder went 1-5 with a double.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Martínez.
