Hapless Knights Lose Again | New York second baseman Lonnie Anderson had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Anderson was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, even as San Francisco beat the Knights, 7-6. Anderson was named the player of the game despite the loss. Kunihiko Daikawa was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 21 save opportunities. The Knights have now dropped 10 straight.
The Bandits got a big at-bat from left fielder Chris Austin. For the game, Austin went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 7-4 lead.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Austin told the San Francisco Times.
