| Oilers Drop Knights with Late Score | The El Dorado Oilers sent the home crowd home smiling from The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace.
The El Dorado Oilers beat the New York Knights, 9-8, at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace. The Oilers got a fine performance from left fielder Chris Miller, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. El Dorado reliever Kuang-yin Yue picked up the win, upping his record to 6-3. Paco Ruíz was saddled with the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when El Dorado designated hitter Ashley Pickhills, facing Paco Ruíz, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Oilers the 9-8 win.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Pickhills.
New York's current losing streak is now 6 games.
