Nobody did more than pitcher Millard Curtis, who captured player of the game honors. Curtis, now 8-6, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Raúl Saltines got the save, his 24th in 30 chances.
Buck Jones, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in triples with 7, helped out the Irvine cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring triple. For the game, the right fielder was 1-4 with a triple.
