Davidson, Stars Wallop Aces in Game 4 of R4 | On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot Kenilworth Aces team, the Springfield Stars had a tough assignment. Derek Davidson delivered.
The Stars right fielder was unstoppable for the visitors, as he was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 8-6. Davidson, 29, was named player of the game for his efforts. The win means Springfield now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.
António De La Cruz, who is rated as the 14th best prospect by BNN, aided the Springfield cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," De La Cruz said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Kenilworth. The scheduled starters for the game are Claudio Martínez for Springfield and Lorenzo Aguilar for Kenilworth.
