| Aces Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0 | The Kenilworth Aces moved to within one game of the Round 5 today, downing the visiting Springfield Stars at Play Rocks Field by a score of 7-3. Aces right-hander Curt Watkins was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Aces a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 BSA Championship.
Wilbert Rodgers chipped in for Kenilworth with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Rodgers said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Play Rocks Field in Kenilworth. Slated to start are José López for the Springfield Stars and Dave Smeddon for the the Kenilworth Aces.
