| Kenilworth Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair | With catcher Julián Madrid leading the charge, the Kenilworth Aces got a road win over the Springfield Stars, 3-1, in Game 1 of the BSA Championship today. Madrid was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once at Kekambas Park to help Kenilworth take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Had Madrid not come through in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Madrid hit a solo home run. The Aces never looked back after taking the 2-1 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Madrid said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Kekambas Park. Slated to start are Erwin Entwistle for the Kenilworth Aces and Anthony Erickson for the the Springfield Stars.
