Host Beavers Drop Pivotal Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2

The Kenilworth Aces moved to within one game of the BSA Championship today, downing the Baffin Island Beavers on the road at Beaver Dam by a score of 2-1. Aces right-hander José Martínez was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Aces a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship.

Martínez was in the zone all game. He frustrated Baffin Island hitters while giving the Aces 8 innings of quality work. Martínez threw 94 pitches, allowing 4 hits and getting 3 punchouts.

"I just love going out and having a big game," Martínez said when asked about being named player of the game. "It's an honor to have your talents recognized."

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Play Rocks Field in Kenilworth. Slated to start are Jesse Little for the Baffin Island Beavers and Dave Smeddon for the the Kenilworth Aces.
