| Beavers Edge Bruins 4-3 to Open R1 | The Baffin Island Beavers slipped past the So Cal Bruins by the score of 4-3 today at Jersey West at Staples Field in the first game of the Wildcard Round. Beavers had to overcome a strong outing from Bruins starting left-hander Ramiro Jiménez, who threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball and claimed player of the game honors in the loss. With a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series, the Beavers will have two chances to close out the Bruins.
Eric Wheeler's hit in the top of the tenth was a game-changer. With no one out, he rapped a fastball from César Menéndez for a solo home run. It put Baffin Island in front, 3-2.
"It's hard to overstate how much this mattered to us, especially in a short series," Baffin Island manager Bobby Jones said.
Game 2 is set to be played Sunday, October 7th, 2029 at Beaver Dam. Slated to start are Dionisio Penni for the So Cal Bruins and Braydon Schute for the the Baffin Island Beavers.
