Irvine Gang Green starter Mike Marrero turned in a top-notch performance against the Maui Tropics at Rainbow Stadium. The result was a win for the Gang Green, 5-2. Brandon Williams got the save, his 4th in 6 chances.
Tom Doherty, who is tied for 8th in the NL with a .320 batting average, aided the Irvine cause with a 2-run single in the top of the eighth. For the game, the catcher was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Doherty said after the game.
