| Stars Get Close Win Over River Sharks | Springfield and Austin duked it out at Greendale Community Field and the Stars came out victorious.
The Springfield Stars topped the Austin River Sharks, 6-4, in Continental League action at Greendale Community Field. The player of the game was Springfield pitcher Marcos Flores. Springfield reliever Jorge Aybar picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Jorge Delgado took the loss.
Had Felipe Guerrero not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Guerrero hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Stars.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Flores.
The Stars have an impressive 64-26 record.
