Multi-HR Day for Parker as Kings Overpower Royale with Cheese, 6-4 | The Kansas City Kings defeated the Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese, 6-4, in Continental League action at Hawthrone Grill, with Kansas City third baseman Dave Parker named player of the game. Osvaldo Cruz, the winner, improved to 11-3. He held Kalamazoo to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 8 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Nick Parks earned his 15th save in 19 chances.
Parker had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a first pitch cutter from Roberto Ledesma, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Kings a 5-3 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Parker.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Parker told the Kansas City News.
The Kings bumped their record to 49-37 with this latest triumph.
