Tropics Prevail, 5-3, Over Nevada | The Maui Tropics picked up a win at Rainbow Stadium, knocking off the Nevada Noise, 5-3. Starting pitcher José Ortíz, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Ortíz, now 6-7. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Maui, now 42-45, holds 4th place in the National League Western Division.
Matt Silver helped out the Maui cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the shortstop was 1-2 with a walk.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Silver.
