| Córdova Leads Charge, Irvine Blasts Bruins | The Irvine Gang Green had no problem beating the So Cal Bruins, 15-3, at Jersey West at Staples Field. Carlos Córdova led the way. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Irvine. Millard Curtis got the win, improving to 7-6. He worked 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. The Bruins, now 52-33, have lost 5 straight.
Buck Jones, who is a three-time All-Star, chipped in for Irvine with a 3-run home run in the top of the first. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 6 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 5 runs batted in.
