| Oilers Edge Tropics, 6-5 | El Dorado withstood an impressive performance by Maui second baseman John Brown to defeat the Tropics, 6-5, at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace. Brown was 3-3 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI. Reliever Rick Grant picked up the win. His record improves to 5-4. Manny Benavides took the loss. Maui has now lost 4 in a row.
The Oilers got a big at-bat from catcher Bob Johnson. For the game, Johnson went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 80th hit of the season gave El Dorado a 6-5 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Johnson told the El Dorado Bulletin.
