| Springfield Bats Go Silent in 2-0 Loss | The Austin River Sharks topped the Springfield Stars, 2-0, in Continental League action at Kekambas Park. The player of the game was Austin pitcher and Maysville, Kentucky native José Pérez. The River Sharks, at 61-98, sit in last place in the Continental League Central Division.
Enrico Vargas drove in one run for Austin. The 27-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Todd Brewster. It was his 52nd RBI of the season.
"The old adage is true," said Vargas. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
