Athletics Win at Boston, 6-3 | Behind a solid performance from third baseman Anastasio Villa, the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the Boston Rebels, 6-3. Villa was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Athletics. Philadelphia starter Ramón Estrada was credited with the win after throwing 95 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 5-20. Esteban Juárez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 23 of 28 save opportunities.
Villa had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the first inning, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Athletics went on to win.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Villa told a Philadelphia Gazette reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
Even with the win, the Athletics have a dismal 55-104 record.
