| Noise Clip Bruins in Tight Contest | So Cal got a terrific performance from pitcher Jeffrey King, but it wasn't enough to beat the Nevada Noise. Nevada won the Branda's Palace contest, 3-2. King was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The Noise bumped their record to 80-77 with this latest triumph.
Bob Smith was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk for Nevada. The 31-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Marty Burgess. It was his 7th walk of the season.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Smith.
