| Marshals Clip River Sharks, 7-6 | Houston beat Austin at Greendale Community Field, eking out a 7-6 win. The win was due in large part to shortstop Michael Thomas, who earned player of the game honors. Houston reliever Jim Daniel picked up the win, upping his record to 5-4. Paco Gutiérrez was saddled with the loss. Vinícius Itaquy notched his 41st save in 48 chances.
Houston used the timely hitting of Javier Rentería to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marshals on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Rentería told reporters after the game.
Their 70-85 record puts the Marshals 4th in the Continental League Central Division.
