| Rebels Score Late, Top Aces, 3-1 | The Boston Rebels got a magnificent performance from pitcher Gary Grimes, who stifled the Kenilworth offense en route to a 3-1 Rebels win at Play Rocks Field. Grimes got the win, improving to 10-13. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. Grimes allowed 1 earned run. Tomás Molina earned his 13th save in 17 chances.
The Rebels got a big at-bat from first baseman Tom Waller. For the game, Waller went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 15th hit of the season gave Boston a 3-1 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Grimes told the Boston Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Boston, now 56-98, holds 4th place in the National League Eastern Division.
