| Athletics Topple Tropics with Late Rally | Jesús Espinoza did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Maui Tropics from losing, 6-5, to the Philadelphia Athletics at Rainbow Stadium. Espinoza was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Philadelphia is now 26-50, Maui 37-38.
Arturo Molina's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Kent Robinson for a run-scoring single. It put Philadelphia in front, 6-5.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Athletics manager Derek Booker. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
