| Panthers Edge Past Pikes, 2-1 | The Panthers had to overcome a fine effort from Seattle pitcher Roberto Matoza to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Stone Brewery Stadium. Matoza went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The misery continues for the Pikes, which has now dropped 13 in a row.
Vista took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, first baseman Bill Wilson hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"Sometimes, you can be too aggressive," said Seattle manager Kevin Hickey. "You need to let the game come to you."
