Pikes Continue Skid Thanks to García, Panthers | The Vista Panthers beat the Seattle Pikes, 7-4, at Stone Brewery Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Carlos García, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs. Vista reliever Dave Riley picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Jesús Martínez was saddled with the loss. David Simpson notched his 13th save in 16 chances.
Bob Cunningham went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk for Vista. The 28-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jesús Martínez. It was his 26th walk of the season.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Vista manager Tim Fulgham.
Seattle, at 27-43, has lost 12 straight.
