Hits Galore: Lane Drills 5 Hits
|
Creighton left fielder Bernard Lane had a big day at Bass Ballpark today against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The 19-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led the Blue Jays to a 11-3 triumph over Virginia Tech.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Lane said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Bernard Lane singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
For the year Lane is batting .375 with 15 hits and 1 home run. He has scored 7 times and driven in 8.
