5-Hit Blitz by Minnesota's Stevenson
|
Golden Gophers center fielder Enrique Stevenson had his way with Seton Hall pitching today at Owen T. Carroll Field and mauled them for 5 hits in 7 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Pirates ruined his great day by toppling the Golden Gophers, 9-8.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Seton Hall credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Stevenson did today," Pirates skipper César Alvarado said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Enrique Stevenson singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 9th, flied out in the 10th, singled in the 12th and flied out in the 13th.
For the year Stevenson has hit at a .333 clip with 11 RBIs, 1 home run and 12 runs scored.
