Loss to Knights Extends Boston Losing Streak | The skies opened up and the rain fell at Fenway Park.
New York beat Boston on the strength of starter Tony Meyer's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 7-2 win. Meyer got the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. Meyer allowed 1 earned run. Henny van der Lack converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
José Peralta went 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for New York. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jim Hendon. It was his 17th RBI of the season.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Peralta said.
Boston, at 28-42, has lost 6 straight.
