| Gang Green Lose, 4-1, at Stone Brewery Stadium | The Irvine Gang Green got a sterling performance from pitcher Alfredo Montalvo, but the Panthers still prevailed, 4-1. Montalvo was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings allowing 4 runs. Vista reliever Jesse Green got the win, raising his record to 4-2. Alfredo Montalvo was tagged with the loss. David Simpson converted his 12th save in 15 tries.
The Panthers got a big at-bat from left fielder Phil Matthews. For the game, Matthews was 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 16th double of the season gave Vista a 4-1 lead.
"It was a good effort all around," said Matthews.
