Knights Lose Despite Johnston's Valiant Effort
The Philadelphia Athletics overcame a good performance by New York catcher Jerry Johnston to knock off New York, 11-9, at Edmund Fitzgerald Field. Johnston was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The Athletics improved to 24-44.

The Athletics got a big at-bat from center fielder Edward Holloway. For the game, Holloway was 1 for 4 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Philadelphia a 6-5 lead.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Holloway said.
