5-Hit Blitz by Byrd Saturday, May 8th, 2027 Frank Byrd was sizzling at the plate today. In a game played at Paints Ballpark, the Oceanside HS first baseman blistered the Newport News HS Paints for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace his club to a 10-5 victory. "Byrd was too tough to get out today," Paints skipper Brad Dempsey said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too." Frank Byrd singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and doubled in the 9th. This year Byrd is batting .285 with 8 home runs.
