Davis Belts 3 HR for Swamp Bats
Friday, May 12th, 2028
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.
It happened at Swamp Bats Stadium today, as Brandon Davis of the Jackson HS Swamp Bats unloaded three times against the Buchanan HS but was still bumped off 14-10 by the Buchanan HS.
"We were lucky to win today," said Buchanan HS skipper Lou Nisbet. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."
For the game, the Jackson HS right fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 6.
Davis spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.
"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
Brandon Davis walked in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Walt Wall in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Kent Britt in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Richard Anthony in the 8th.
Currently Davis is batting .431 with 16 home runs, 46 RBIs and 55 runs scored.
