McGowan Gets No-Hitter Against Georgia Tech
Sunday, May 2nd, 2027
It was a fantastic day for West Virginia Mountaineers starter Paul McGowan and a lousy day for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
The West Virginia hurler's pitching artistry completely befuddled and bewildered the Yellow Jackets as the Mountaineers cruised to a 1-0 win. When it was all over, McGowan was credited with one of the rarer feats in baseball -- a no-hitter.
"The ball was moving and darting, and best of all, going where I wanted it to go," McGowan said later.
He rang up 8 strikeouts and allowed 6 walks while shutting Georgia Tech down at Russ Chandler Stadium.
In 7 starts this year McGowan has posted 4 wins while suffering 1 loss. He has pitched 44.1 innings, allowed 20 hits, struck out 50 and has a 1.62 ERA.
