Yellow Jackets Give Manager Medellín the Brush-Off
Tuesday, June 13th, 2028
António Medellín had heard the murmurs, but didn't think much of the ongoing rumors of his own firing.
That is, until he arrived at the ballpark today and found out he had been terminated as the manager of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
"You read the newspaper, you hear people talking, you hope it won't happen and when it does, it's pretty tough to actually lose your job," said the distraught Medellín, only a few minutes after learning he had been terminated. "It's never easy to take, but you've got to try to grin and bear it. Like they say, 'you are hired to be fired.'"
Several players came by Medellín's office to say their goodbyes and offer hugs and well wishes as he packed his belongings.
"He was well-respected in the clubhouse, but in the end we need someone who is going to bring better results," said Georgia Tech's general manager.
