Wildcats Martin Booms 3 HRs
Monday, April 17th, 2028
Jim Martin went on an explosive hitting spree against the Alabama Crimson Tide at Sewell-Thomas Stadium today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Northwestern Wildcats to the 17-0 win.
The catcher finished 3-for-4 with 4 runs scored and 9 runs batted in.
"It was just one of those days," Martin said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Alabama skipper Pete McCauley said Martin was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Jim Martin hit a two-run home run off Dave Roberson in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off Alfonso Sánchez in the 1st, walked in the 4th, walked in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Dave Edmonds in the 9th.
So far on the season Martin is hitting .344 with 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He has 22 hits and played in 15 games.
