Spikes Hong No-Hits Kingfish
Sunday, June 4th, 2028
Hsin-pei Hong relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Kenosha hitless in a 12-0 win at Ballpark of Huntington Beach today.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Kingfish off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 22-year-old starter rung up 6 strikeouts and 4 walks in whipping the Kingfish.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Kenosha skipper Arturo Trujillo said.
To date this season Hong sports a 3-4 mark with a 4.56 ERA in 12 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .292 batting average and has 48 strikeouts in 73 innings.
