APL's #1 Batter Announced Friday, September 1st, 2028 Fernando Gutiérrez is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Pensacola first baseman joined that select company when the Appalachian League announced the results of August's voting. Gutiérrez totaled 37 hits, 19 walks, 7 home runs, 15 RBIs and 24 runs scored last month to put together a .425 batting average and .541 on-base percentage. So far this season Gutiérrez is batting .335 with 10 home runs, 30 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 68 hits in 203 at-bats, 41 walks and a .456 OBP. Gutiérrez has played in 97 games. |
