Taguchi Belts 5 Hits
Saturday, July 1st, 2028
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Mitsuoki Taguchi today -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at Utica Field, but the performance lost a little luster when the Unicorns were downed 9-8 by the Portland Privateers.
After his glittering performance, the Utica shortstop told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat."
His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book.
"I just wish we had added a win in the record book today, too," Taguchi said.
Mitsuoki Taguchi hit a solo-shot off Héctor Negrón in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 12th.
Currently Taguchi is hitting .306 and has collected 6 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 45 times, while playing in 60 games.
