Great Day for Miller -- 5 Hits
Saturday, September 4th, 2027
Fans at John Wayne Memorial Ballpark got to see not only a home-team victory today, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season.
The Santa Anna Dukes outplayed the Gilbert Fire Fighters en route to a 33-2 win, but the standout was right fielder John Miller. Miller netted 5 hits in 8 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line.
"Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Fire Fighters manager Matt Gates said in his postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too."
John Miller doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, flied out in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 8th.
This season Miller is batting at a .271 clip with 3 home runs and 15 RBIs.
