Músquez Sizzles with 31-Game Batting Streak Tuesday, April 20th, 2027 He did it again! Carlos Músquez got another hit and ran his hitting streak to 31. He collected 1 hit in 4 at-bats, but that wasn't enough to win the game. His Temiskaming District Secondary School Saints were defeated 5-3 at Mudcats Ballpark by the Bishop Verot HS. During the recent streak, the 18-year-old first baseman has remained quiet, sidestepping questions about it with ease. Whether for superstitious reasons or simply in an effort to avoid the spotlight, Músquez preferred to shower praise on his team. He told reporters in the clubhouse after the loss, "We have a better ballclub than we showed today." "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "So, we're trying to kind of keep that quiet... don't want to jinx him." Carlos Músquez grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Dave Cox in the 4th, struck out in the 5th and flied out in the 8th. Músquez is batting at a .348 pace this season, picking up 24 hits in 69 at-bats with 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and 12 runs scored. |
