Cross Hittin' on All Cylinders
Tuesday, April 6th, 2027
It was a special day for Bill Cross at Pelham Manor HS Grounds today. Not only did Cross's Tacoma HS Torchmen beat the Oceanside HS Pirates 20-10, but the catcher hit for the cycle along the way.
The 16-year-old Cross racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name in the record books. For the game, he went 4-for-5 with 6 runs batted in and 5 runs scored.
"He hit everything we threw," said Pirates manager Ricardo González. "There was just no getting him out today."
Speaking to the press after the game, Cross said his goal for the day had been to look for "first pitch fastballs."
"I got some good looks today," he said.
Bill Cross hit a three-run double in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off John Stephenson in the 5th, walked in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI triple in the 9th.
So far this season, Cross has recorded a .417 batting average with 10 hits, 2 home runs, 13 RBIs, 8 runs scored and a .500 OBP.
