Saturday, April 17th, 2027
Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Hokies-Panthers game had a pretty good chance at snagging a home run ball.
Virginia Tech right fielder Eric Clay thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Virginia Tech to a 7-4 win over Pittsburgh.
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Clay said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run."
Clay was 3-for-3 on the day with 6 runs batted in.
Eric Clay hit a solo-shot off John O'Neil in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off John O'Neil in the 3rd, walked in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Félix Turcotte in the 7th.
So far this year Clay has 4 home runs and a .281 batting average.
