Cardenas Slams 3 Deep for Auburn
Tuesday, May 19th, 2026
Three home runs in a game doesn't happen often. When it does it is something special to celebrate. And Francisco Cardenas of Auburn can celebrate it. He is now a member of the select group of players, who have hit three home runs in a single game. He powered three into the stands today at Dedeaux Field against the Southern California Trojans.
In all he was 3-for-4 as the Tigers toppled Southern California 13-7, knocking in 8 runs and scoring 3 times.
Cardenas told reporters after the game, "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run. Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today I tried on the last one."
His manager added, "He is blessed with a natural home run swing. He gets the ball up in the air."
Francisco Cardenas hit a two-run home run off Héctor Ortíz in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Héctor Ortíz in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, walked in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Javier Rodríguez in the 8th and walked in a run in the 9th.
This season Cardenas has 15 home runs and a .417 batting average.
