5-for-5 Game for Ortíz Tuesday, May 5th, 2026 It was a good day for the Panthers at Trees Field as they clipped the Stanford Cardinal 10-3. It was tremendous day for Ismael Ortíz, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 5 barrage. The Pittsburgh catcher told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well." Ismael Ortíz singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Wayne Williams in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Ramón Rivera in the 7th. In his 2026 season totals, Ortíz has 7 home runs, .336 BA, .442 OBP, 23 RBIs and 25 runs scored. |
