APL Best Mound Performer Named Thursday, October 14th, 2027 He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Pedro Santiago performed like a veteran on the hill for the Nantucket Orcas and walked away with the Appalachian League Outstanding Pitcher Award in the process. The 24-year-old Orcas star fashioned a 23-9 won-loss record in 2027 with a 2.68 ERA. In 296 innings of work and 55 starts, Santiago struck out 349 while giving up 241 hits and 57 walks. He held opposing batters to a .218 average. Ramón Marerro of the Beaverton Bronze Souls finished second in voting, while Francisco Álvarez of the State College Spikes finished third. |
